So you have been standing in line waiting for your teenager to finish in the bathroom and wondering if you will make your appointment on time? If you’re like me, waiting on my teenage daughter to finish her hour-long “dolling up” routine can be frustrating and infuriating. As I stand there I wonder if adding another bathroom upstairs would make sense to me so I decide to write of list of things I should consider if I want to do this.
- How much will the new bathroom add to my daily life.
- How much money will the project cost and is it worth doing.
- How long will the whole project take.
- Can it even be done in my house.
- If I want to sell my house later would a buyer rather have this bathroom or the area that I would sacrifice to add it.
- How many years will I benefit from this update.
I take the list and do a pro/con analysis of each and decide to check with my local CW Service Plumbing Pro to discuss the project and speak to my real estate friend to look at comprable homes in my area. In addition, I look up what parts I may be able to DIY like some of the plumbing, drywall, flooring, and painting.
